Landis+Gyr Releases Command Center 7.0

Latest software version expands intelligent device support and value of network platform for utilities

ATLANTA, GA. – Dec. 14, 2016 – Landis+Gyr, a global leader in transforming the way energy is delivered and managed, has released Command Center 7.0, the latest version of its smart grid network operating software that expands capabilities for connecting and communicating with intelligent devices for electric, water and gas distribution systems.

Command Center 7.0 expands support for IP-based devices used in distribution line sensors, controllers and streetlight controls, while also enhancing water and gas metering capabilities. Additionally, the software update enables support for Landis+Gyr’s next generation meter-based prepay solution, with full commercial availability in 2017.

Support for Landis+Gyr’s Network Node, an intelligent, coin-sized radio designed for deep integration into a variety of sensors and controllers, provides utilities with more options for the types of devices that can be added to the network.  Expansion of the connectivity platform provides utilities with additional returns on their communications investment.

“Command Center is the foundation of many large-scale grid modernization initiatives, including the largest smart grid project in the world currently being deployed in Japan. This release sets the groundwork for new devices and capabilities on intelligent IoT networks, such as smart city applications,” said Lisa Washburn, Director of Software Product Management at Landis+Gyr. “At the same time, it enhances support for multi-commodity customers with new water and gas features that expand the monitoring and reporting capabilities of these meters.”

For water meters, version 7.0 improves the communication path of water modules and improves the registration and provisioning process on the network. For gas systems, this version adds full support for pressure and temperature modules.

Command Center is the operating software supporting the Gridstream® AMI solution which provides an open-standards network solution for utility distribution system management, automation and consumer engagement applications.
